The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) National Distinction/ Merit Award has been awarded to the best pupils in the 2015 May /June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The winners were announced during the 54th Annual Meeting of Nigeria National Committee of WAEC held on Thursday, 1st December, 2016 in Lagos.




They are; Master Babalola David Oluwasayo from Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ibadan in Osun State, who emerged first; Master Alabi Philip Toluwase from Our Lady and St Francis Catholic College, Osogbo also in Osun State, who came second and Miss Nkata Lewechi Ugonma from Loyola Jesuit College, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who followed in third place.

Speaking at the event, the Head, National Office of WAEC, Mr. Olu Adenipekun said Babalola, who is presently studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan (UI), scored 673,7626 points to emerged victorious.

Alabi, who is also studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ibadan (UI), scored 667,1802 while Nkata that is presently studying Chemical engineering at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, scored 660,2430.
