The Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Prof. Eno Ibanga has donated a brand new bus to the newly inaugurated Students’ Union Government (SUG) executives of the institution.
Speaking while handing over the keys of the vehicle to the SUG, the VC stated that the aim of purchasing the bus is to ease the challenges of transportation that is inevitable in the discharge of students’ union duties.
Professor Ibanga advised the student’s leaders to accommodate the needs of others when putting the bus to use and prayed that the bus will not bring calamity on the students and the university as a whole.
He further said the University Management is putting the interest of the students first, while sorting out general challenges facing the university community.
The VC added that the vehicle was purchased using the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the University.
In his reaction, the SUG President, Mr. Kufre Akpanikot said that he is delighted to see the fulfillment of the Vice-Chancellor’s promise.
He expressed gratitude to the University Management for the kind gesture coming at this initial stage of his administration and thanked the Vice-Chancellor for keeping to his promise of providing a bus within two weeks.
